Biggest Games of the NFL's Week 16: Playoff Implications and Betting Picks
My betting picks and summaries of the playoff implications in Week 16.
Game of the Week
Bengals at Steelers: CIN must get past a fierce divisional rival to stay in wild card race
Playoff Implications: If the Bengals win, they stay on the inside of the playoff picture. If they lose, they fall out and have to rely on other teams losing. The Steelers, meanwhile, have no way to jump into the playoff picture this week even if they win.
Game Summary: The Steelers are always a tough team because of their strong defense and fierce pass rush. The Bengals are 3-2 against the Steelers during Joe Burrow’s time, and Burrow has an 11 TD: 8 INT ratio against Blitzburgh—far worse than his career ratio of 97 TD: 37 INT.
Jake Browning already lost to the Steelers 10-16 three weeks ago. He still completed 73.1% of his pass attempts in that game, but he only threw for 7.8 yards per attempt and threw an interception. He was sacked four times. The Steelers’ defense will still be tough, but Browning has played them once and has three more games under his belt.
He should be better this time around, while the Steelers will be worse, as PIT QB Kenny Pickett (ankle) is once again missing the game. The Steelers have lost the past three games since beating the Bengals, and they have scored a total of 41 points in those three games.
Line Changes: The lined moved from PIT +2 to PIT +2.5 on December 21. The Bengals are 2.5-point favorites.
Mitch’s Picks: Bengals over the Steelers outright. Bengals score -2.5 over the Steelers score. Total score over 38.
