Some NFL Writers and Creators to Pay Attention to During the 2023 Season
(Besides Mitch's Picks!)
NFL training camps have started, and the first preseason game is this week, if you can believe it! The Jets go to Canton to send their practice squad candidates against the Browns’. Fantasy drafts are in full swing, and people who aren’t fanatics like me are finally starting to pay attention to the NFL and fantasy content.
So I thought I would recommend some other analysts here on Substack, YouTube, and on other platforms who provide quality content whom you might want to follow.
Substack
, an experienced NFL reporter, writes well-researched articles telling the stories behind the players at . This week he has an article about last season’s late breakout IDP star James Houston III and his journey from the SEC to Jackson State to the Lions’ practice squad, where he nearly gave up on football, before making eight sacks in the last seven games. is what it says it is: a podcast and blog about all things IDP! I published a guest post there earlier this year: , who did analysis for PFF in the past, digs deep into the numbers and explains what they mean at . Lately he’s been counting down the top quarterbacks of all eras through an analytical model. During the regular season, I enjoy his game-by-game EPA analyses. and publish interesting and informative analyses of football strategy with explanatory GIFs at .YouTube
For football strategy and analyses, there are few YouTubers better than Brett Kollmann. For comedy shorts, Brandon aka BenchwarmerBran is the GOAT. I can’t wait for his QB Club series to start again! And if you just want a really long weekly preview and postview of the NFL Week and also made up content-for-the-sake-of-content during the offseason, there’s always PFF.
